Dr. Melvin Greer — a technologist, strategist and innovation catalyst — recently retired from Intel Corporation after serving as the company’s only African American Intel Fellow. Today, he is channeling more than three decades of industry, government and academic experience into his role as SVP and Chief Data Scientist of TechElevate Innovation Labs — a next-generation advisory and innovation firm dedicated to helping organisations increase revenue and growth via the adoption of AI at scale, commercialised advanced research, and master ambidextrous leadership that balances innovation with operational excellence.
Alongside his work at TechElevate, he continues to influence the future of technology, policy and national competitiveness in pivotal advisory roles:
- Senior Advisor, FBI – Guiding AI, cybersecurity, and data governance strategy for mission-critical operations.
- Member, Board of Directors, U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine – Shaping science and technology strategy at the highest national level.
- Senior Policy Advisor, UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy – Connecting advanced technology with effective public policy.
As an academic philanthropist, he has endowed three undergraduate scholarships to expand access to STEM education via his non-profit, Greer Institute for Leadership and Innovation and proudly serves on three academic advisory boards. These commitments reflect a long-standing mission: to create pathways for broad participation of next-generation innovators.
His work spans patented inventions in cloud computing, synthetic biology and IoT biosensors, global thought leadership on responsible AI and data governance and a lifetime dedication to building leadership capacity in technical and policy domains.
