Dr Afonso Ferreira is Director of Research and Scientific Advisor for Europe at the French CNRS, specializing in the intersection of digital technologies and European policy and regulation. He contributed to major EU cybersecurity and digital initiatives during his six-year secondment to the European Commission. Afonso now leads interdisciplinary research and international advisory work on AI, cybersecurity, and compliance-by-design, including in his fourth consecutive Horizon project funded by the European Union since 2019. Afonso has published more than 150 papers at the forefront of scientific research and has participated in more than 70 Programme/Steering Committees of international conferences.
