Sascha Weh is a seasoned German police officer with over 36 years of service, including more than 20 years in international cooperation. Currently, as Chief of UNITAR’s Division for Peace office in Brussels, he and his teams focus on capacity-building for civil and military security forces in regions such as the Indo-Pacific, West and East Africa, and the Middle East. Their objective is to empower security forces to address transnational threats effectively and in accordance with the rule of law. Previously, Sascha spent four years advising Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister of Interior, supported OSCE missions, and served as a police advisor at Germany’s Federal Foreign Office to strengthen police assistance as an instrument of German foreign policy. His academic qualifications include degrees from the University of Applied Police Sciences, the University of Brighton, and the Police University in Ottawa.
