Tanja is a leading expert in the mathematical foundations of cryptography, in particular in curve-based cryptography and all areas of post-quantum cryptography. She has published extensively on the design and analysis of cryptographic systems as well their applications in security systems.
She recently received the IACR Test of Time award for her work introducing Edwards curves to cryptography. She co-designed the Ed25519 signature scheme, which is now an international standard and widely used in practice. EdDSA is co-authored with Bo-Yin Yang from Academia Sinica.
Tanja was an early adopter of post-quantum cryptography and was one of the co-organisers of the first workshop on this topic (in 2006) and is a member of the Steering Committee for the resulting conference series, PQCrypto, which she now chairs.
