The latest webinar in the TDL autumn programme of events looked into software assurance, one of the areas that the widespread adoption of AI touches the most.  From test automation to new areas such as the ethical validation of software, the use of AI has become one of the most important trends in software assurance. AI permits the testing of software in the design process earlier than before and supports continuous security integration. A code generation capability can support low code testing by users in organic environments. Formal verification can potentially be used with greater efficiency.

The panel of experts discussed the advantages and challenges of AI enabled software assurance, the limitations of the use of AI in this field and the new technology trends emerging for the production of safer and more secure software.

The speakers were:

  • Adam Hastings, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer and Information Science, Fordham University
  • Ian Oliver, Professor of Practice (Cybersecurity), Oulu University
  • Ari Singer, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, TrustiPhi, LLC
  • Fiona Stewart, Security Assurance Specialist, TrustCB

The session was moderated by TDL strategic advisor, Claire Vishik
